How does a portable air conditioner operate and what is the difference with a usual air conditioning unit?
The operating principles of a portable air conditioner are the same with any other type of air to air unit. All the parts are included to a single housing (usually metallic) that can easily be moved from a room to another by its wheels and you may find cooling only or heat pump type. Due to the fact that these types of air conditioners have both condenser and evaporator in the air conditioned room, it is needed in each room that are being moved to exist a hole on an external wall so as to connect a flexible duct and by this way the coils to contact the environment. This hole may be closing automatically by an auxiliary spring, when the unit stops operating.
